Brandywine...cracks

I do enjoy my Brandywines this year (first time growing). I was wondering if others have noticed that this variety has a habit of cracking around the stem end. Most all of mine (containers) have deep cracks on top (these called radials?). I may try (Sudduth's) next year...from what I read a bit better.

Some kinds are predisposed by their genetics.

Cutting back a bit on watering can help, from what I've read. I don't know if there's any truth to it though. I'm still waiting for my Brandywines to ripen here in northern MN. SIGH....

I remember from past, BW gets cracked and spoiled.
Best thing would be to pick them after color break and let them get red inside. Same goes for Cherokee purple, and black Krim.

TY for that info, seysonn. I'd hate to ruin them after all the work and love I've put into them.

S....actually, my Cherokee Purples have had no radial cracks at all. For me, they are a better quality fruit.
