Sunshine on their shoulders makes me unhappy

FYI: I scrolled through a bunch of posts to see if this was covered, but didn't find much.
Due to high temps and lack of foliage, my grape tomatoes (in containers) have green shoulders. I just covered them today because I just read about it recently. It wouldn't be as big of a deal if they were a larger size, but the smaller fruit wouldn't have very much left if I were to cut off the green part.
Is it too late for them? Does this condition reverse? Is there anything else I can do to remedy this? A lot of them are affected and I'd like to save any many as possible.
Any advice or fellow commiserations are appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the green shoulders on your cherry toms. Do you know what variety they are?

Have you tried picking them and letting them ripen some more inside?

I'm no expert, but it sounds to me as if they just need a little more time.

I second what L has said. Tomatoes picked at "blush" lose very little quality when set on the counter to finish coloring.

They're Tami G Hybrid.
Some are starting to turn and it's not as obvious on them, so I probably could pick them now. The worst ones are super green and still too small to pick and counter ripen. Hopefully you're right, Linda and time will be gracious to them.

The plant might still feed them for a while, as long as the stems are live . Food comes from the roots. Iust with few leaves the plant can continue to live. Might even grow new shoots.
