Stink Bug Damage

About 2 out every 3 of our Yellow Boys has this damage. They are planted next to some sweet corn which had some stink bugs on it.
Our other 2 gardens of tomatoes have no stinkbug damage.
I know you risk getting horn worm damage planting tomatoes next to corn or by planting where corn was the previous year.
Anyone else finding it the same with stinkbugs?

I'm uncertain that's stink bug damage. At least it's not the same thing as discussed at UC IPM http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/r783300211.html

Agree with Jean. That isn't stink bug damage in your photos. Looks like some sort of environmental damage like hail hits that have scarred over or bird pecks. How deep does the damage go? Cut one open to see the inside damag if any.

Haven't had any hail.
If it were bird pecks we should see fresh damage.
Some of the black spots go half way to the core

what about the pinworm?ollowed by an unknown, along with the tomato itself trying to heal the wound? Not sure, but some of those holes remind me of the pinworm.

Take care,

Took the tomatoes by the local Farm Service & Co-op today...The consensus was...Stinkbug damage
Don't shoot the messenger!

Gee. Wonder how they'd explain the depth of the damage then? It's well documented that stink bugs have very short snouts and that their damage only permeates the outer layers of the fruit.

The pin worm possibility that missingtheobvious offered is at least a 100x more likely IMO than stinkbugs based on the pics. So while I sure don't buy it, maybe they could see something we can't see in the pics.

RE: Stink Bug Damage...1 more opinion

County agent emailed me and said it was most likely bacterial spot.
After googling it I'd say we have a winner!
But, I'm the loser as he said no treatment for infected plants. Dose of copper could prevent spreading.
Oh yeah, had a bunch of stinkbugs on cucumber vines today! It never ends.
