| Under the skin of my tomatoes there is a tough layer of white stuff. Does anyone know what causes this? The outsides are mottled with yellow skin, looks kind of like a mosiac pattern. |

| Several possibilities ranging from just weather effects to pests to disease. All can produce symptoms that you describe. Would need to see the fruit to possibly narrow it down. Dave |

| Hi, I have had the same problem with tough skins tough and not shiny skins,my seed were exhibition seeds [ Vandos ] from a reputable seed merchant,i have had vandos for the last 3 years and never had a problem with them. |

| LOL! Maybe the tough skin isn't on the tomato. ;) |

| It is easy to get skin off. Drop them in boiling water fir 15 seconds, take them out put in ice water . then peel them the skin will peel off real asy. I do this for cooking and sometimes for slicing. Tomato skin(thin or thick) is indigestible. So are the seeds. |
