Tough skin??

Under the skin of my tomatoes there is a tough layer of white stuff. Does anyone know what causes this? The outsides are mottled with yellow skin, looks kind of like a mosiac pattern.

Several possibilities ranging from just weather effects to pests to disease. All can produce symptoms that you describe. Would need to see the fruit to possibly narrow it down.

LOL! Maybe the tough skin isn't on the tomato. ;)

It is easy to get skin off.
Drop them in boiling water fir 15 seconds, take them out put in ice water . then peel them the skin will peel off real asy. I do this for cooking and sometimes for slicing. Tomato skin(thin or thick) is indigestible. So are the seeds.
