I know all those who commented on it and will say that if they thought it was a great tasting variety they would have written excellent or superb, but most wrote good or very good as for taste. Most of them are SSE members and most SSE members have a range of adjectives they use to describe taste. I know from long experience that person X on that page has the same tastes that I do and since I trust his tastebuds that's great and he trusts mine, so when we exchange seeds each year it's a plus for both of us.

And yes, I know Melody Rose as well, I love her name and I got two great varieties from her and one has become a fave of some and it's called Burning Spear, a long bright orange paste variety. The other one is Blackfoot, no indian origin, and I never grew out the seeds.

Fact is, that the only way that anyone will know if they like a variety is to grow it. ( smile)

But taste is personal and perceptual and there are lots of variables that influence taste in any one season.

I had it fully ripe and it is good, but it is so much better when it is only half ripe. That is how I will eat them from now on, but it's true that we don't know what we will like until we grow them and try them out! So glad I did not give up on this one because it does take forever to ripen. I had my first cherry tomato ripe in the beginning of July (maybe even the end of June) but nothing on the Uncle Mark Bagby until my post above.

I'm guessing that what you thought was "fully ripe" was beyond ripe.
