Growing Tomatoes

Watering end of season

I've got about a month left, give or take a week. Last few years, we've had very warm September that sometimes spread into October. My question is how to water at this stage? I have been doing the finger test and watering deep as needed and that has worked pretty well for me. I don't want the plants to die but I am not sure how to water that is best for the fruit that still is ripening. Thanks in advance!

cut down quite a bit.
Probably you will get some rain , anyway. But if there was no rain at all, and the soil was getting REAL dry, then lightly water.
I have stopped watering but we got close to 2" of rain last couple of days. With cooler temperature, soil will stay moist longer

BTW: are your plants in ground or in pots?
With pots you will need to water, but cut down on it.

JUST MY OPINION, as do with mine.

I meant to mention that they are in the ground. I will cut down on watering. Thanks!

Not the right thread, but do you know if you can do the same for pumpkins? I have them in with my tomatoes in the same plot.
