Selbo's Red Ribbed

Well this year I planted as usual in pots, got small fruit, but then I decided to drop a plant into the garden. Bigger fruit and yields, flavor not quite as intense, but a happy plant, despite the extreme mildew problem I had this year from the cold drippy marine layer that plagues me most summers.

A spiny friend of my tomato :)

Cool! I grow cacti way over here in zone 6a. In the ground too! Good job both plants look awesome. I can only grow small cacti outdoors. A good thing, not enough room around here! I grow tomatoes in pots, and next year I'm going to try three in the ground, and three in pots. Great minds think alike!

Now you know how I got such big tomatoes from your
seeds!

Mine finally stopped growing around 6 feet tall.

Does your cactus bloom at night? I had one like that once.

Tom,

Hope you enjoyed those tomatoes, that plant did seem very happy in your garden :)

And there are actually 3 cacti in that picture, a huge Cereus peruvianus that has been blooming for me all summer since may, and yes, at night, although the flowers last well into mid day, a nyctocereus serpentinus, a skinny lanky cactus that has beautiful fragrant flowers that also bloom in summer at night, and a small cutting of a cereus peruvianus monstrose form at the bottom, similar flowering habit to the regular c. peruvianus but not big enough to bloom.

Those look awesome! I am hoping and praying those seeds become available for next year as I really really want to try them.
