Hi there! I know it is very hard to identify tomatoes, but I was just wondering if anyone had a clue! I love the flavour of this tomato, and am saving the seeds to grow it again next year - but my marker for the plant must have blown away and I can't tell which tomato this is. It was situated right between my "brandywine red" greenhouse bought tomatoes, and my tie dye berkeley. It does not look as colourful inside as the tie dye, yet it is a much deeper burgundy colour than my brandywines. I think maybe it is an incredbily ripe tie dye? If anyone has any ideas - let me know! I would love to know what delicious tomato this is (for my own little tomato catalogue I am doing to stay organized for next year!)

What was the source of your one labelled Brandywine??? From a plant you bought or grown from seeds you bought or traded for? Did you keep a list of all the varieties you set out? if not there's no way to ID a variety from a picture since there are umpteen ( that means thousands) of possibilities IMO. Carolyn, who hopes that that label that got blown away eventually turns up. ( smile)

Hi carolyn :) The brandywine tomatoes were from a local greenhouse, so it may have been mislabelled. I kept a list of all of my varieites that I grew, but this one didnt look like any others! Reisetomate, costoluto genovese, black cherry, ildi, berkeley tie dye, from greenhouses and markets - brandywine sudduth, brandywine 'red', kentucky, amish paste, canner howle, pineapple, sunsugar, lemon boy, manitoba, la roma, sungold, black krim, japanese black trifele, orange flamme, celebrity I just figured it had to be either brandwine or tie dye berkeley because I kept the tomatoes grouped together (or so i thought!!) I have so many tomatoes now :) and I'm trying to stay organized. I really appreciate it!

The first of your pictures looks like a black tomato with green shoulders. Of the ones you named I would guess Black Krim but it could easily have been a mislabeled plant. Brandywine Red is red not dark like your picture.

I agree with Helen, it's most likely to be Black Krim, just looking at the tomatoes on your list. Do the tomatoes from your known Black Krim plants taste different? But a stray or crossed seed could also be possible.
|
I have a Black Krim and am getting ripe fruits from it, right now. The size, shape and color of those in your top picture matches better than 90% to what I got, BLACK KRIM. It is likely that it has bee mislabeling or accidental tag switch.

Thank you all so much! My black krim plant was picked over by a gardening buddy and I didn't get to see how they looked!! I must have planted one out of order :) I really appreciate all of your feedback! Thank you!
