Couldn't quite get a 2 pounder.....

......but 30.65 oz will have to do. Hawaiian Pineapple bicolor. Had lots of beefsteaks over a pound this year, but none hit the magical 2 lb mark. Tasted good, but not great. Am spoiled with brandywine's and Cherokee Purple. Will probably try Northern Bicolor or Big Rainbow next year.

That's beautiful and impressive, but tell me how you would eat a whopping great two pound tomato? We don't like them too big because the two of us wouldn't be able to get through it all and I'd hate to waste it, or even refrigerate the leftovers.

Linda, who loves the cherries, salads and medium-sized tomatoes.

Well done, Ed!

"...tell me how you would eat a whopping great two pound tomato?" That was my first thought, too, Linda. Until I remembered that I made a BLT last night. After a couple of bites, I said, "I want more tomato" and sliced up the rest of a large Brandy Boy. I little B and L with a lot of T. ;-) I need to get my fix in. The season's almost over.

Ed, I got a homer Fikes yellow oxheart that just put the needle onto the 2lb mark. And I do a lot of saucing, so I have no problem using 2 Lb tomatoes.

Big Rainbow gave way by taste to Marvel Zapotec Striped. Way way better. Nature Riddle gave very large but rather tart taste.

So for next year out of large bicolors am looking at Northern Lights

to add to Marvel.

L and G.....This is how I eat a large tomato. One giant slice between two pieces of bread.

Linda.....yeah, I think Northern Lights is at the head of the class for me too. Tatiana recommended it to me.

Ed, That's a hilarious sandwich! I like it!

Gail, I know what you mean about getting a tomato fix, especially at this time of the year with impending frosts here! I certainly manage to get through a lot of cherry tomatoes for lunch every day. It's just the thought of eating a pound at a time!!!!

You don't have to finish it in one sitting. You can always clear wrap some of it and eat later.

I've had a few 2 pounders this year. Most were
Kellogg's Breakfast and a couple Brandywines.

I like it when a sandwich means one slice of tomato.

I hate it when you have multiple slices of tomato and they
fall out as you're eating it.

You got it!

I love eating large tomatoes, and I also use KB the way Ed does the one above. I also like to make pizza with fresh tomato slices on it, and the big ones do a great job of covering a 12" pizza. Follow with seasoning, large basil leaves, two kinds of cheese and a well preheated pizza stone at 500+ degrees and you have a great treat you can only get in summer. :) Send those whoppers my way! (NOT the Parks Whopper, lol)

Fantastic idea Sue! So you use fresh tomatoes instead of tomato paste! Wonderful! I would add some peppers, onions and mushrooms to that - yum!

Good pizza idea ; To make foundation with thin sliced maters, fresh herb on top ....

Summertime must have's:
1. Tomato Sandwich
2. Fresh Tomato Pizza
3. Fresh Tomato Salsa

4. Die happy.

Fresh Tomato salsa, with some fresh green peppers(with mild heat), sprinkle with your choice chopped herbs(basil, cilantro, chives, parsley, mint), some lime/lemon juice, olive oil and of course some salt. Cucumbers, IF only garden fresh.

Wait a minute... isn't that how *everyone* makes tomato sandwiches?
