Tomato Disease

I'm trying to help a friend who lives in Central Washington State with a problem he's apparently having with his tomatoes. This guys is generally a pretty green thumb but is stumped by the problem he's having and hasn't seen this before. The link below shows the top and bottom of the same tomato. Any ideas that I can pass along?

Blossom end rot (BER) See the FAQ.

Yep, that looks like BER. Im surprised your friend never seen it before. Maybe this variety is especially prone to it.
