It "almost" drowned, but might recover. Suggest leaving it alone and see what happens.

Its the blight and yes your plant will die. You can still eat the fruit it makes

I respectfully disagree about the blight. The Florida poster said it was under water, probably from Isaac, and it looks wilted like a typically waterlogged plant would look. I've had a few like this and if they don't die by themselves they will recover when the water receeds. There's just no need to be in a hurry and yank it. I'd remove the dead foliage though.

Maybe some sort of wilt on the lower part of the plant, but not blight. The late blight I'm familiar with goes from green to dark green with mold and dark lesions very quickly......like 3 days. The "yellow to crispy brown" isn't the blight I know. I just did a search on late blight photos to confirm my opinion.

I think so.

IMO, it is probably Pythium root rot or Phytophora root rot. Blight does not cause qilting... root rot does. IMO it will not come back.
