Soil Block mixture?

I plan to use soil blocks next year to start my tomato seeds, but have a problem with the mixture suggested.
I tried a test earlier this year and ended up with leggy plants, due in part I believe to the addition of fertilizer in the seed starting mixture.
In other areas I read 'it's not good' to have fertilizer in seed starter, but no explanation as to why?
Does anyone have an answer? Could my leggy problem be the addition of fertilizer?

I think that LEGGY seedlings are due to inadequate light than anything else. If it is relatively too warm, too wet but not enough light, it will result in leggy seedlings.

I did in fact eliminate all of the suggestions, still got leggy seedlings. So the question remains. Is adding fertilizer to a seed mix, a good idea or not?
