Early cold

Tomorrow's sunrise will confirm to my neighbors that I am slightly wack-a-doodle. We're expecting to dip in to the 30s tonight, so I've just finished covering my best yard tomato plants (planted in the parkways) with old sheets and a beach towel. The plants at my garden plot, I've left to fend for themselves, figuring "the jungle" of foliage might do some good. I did pull the cherry tomato plant, though, mostly because I am tired of picking hundreds of them.

Yeah, there's been several frost advisories just to my NE. So far we've avoided it. My tomatoes are hanging in there. Tonight there is another advisory close by. If no frost tonight we should be 'good to go' for another week.

I have got a frost coming tonight and if I can survive it, I should have a week or more as well.

we haven't had a frost yet, and the last two days have been mild, but today it rained and it feels cooler again.In any event, the flavor is just not there anymore with the cherries for sure, in fact, some of them have quite a bite to them. I think tomorrow may be it for me. It's been a long long summer and tons of work and frankly, I've just about had it taking care of the plants! I need a break to dream about next years plants!

Well, Sunday's overnight frost (temps down to 30) did it. The garden-plot tomatoes are dead, dead, dead. The yard tomatoes I covered, however, are fine.
