| Hi! We are staring our annual secret tomato seed swap! I started this nine years ago. I had never been in a swap, so I just did it the way it seemed to make sense to me. It has been a huge success, and we have swappers from 5 foreign countries, as well as US swappers. Here is a synopsis: You send in 5 packs each of 10 different varieties (10 seeds in each pack, so you will need 50 seeds of each variety.) You receive back 50 different varieties, one pack of each. Everyone always receives more than 50 packs, because many swappers send in extra varieties and/or extra seeds :) And it is an OP/Heirloom swap only, no hybrids. | I should mention, this is a mystery swap, but it is a "controlled" mystery swap. You email me a proposed list of varieties to send in, along with alternates if you have them. You also send a wish list. I then pick varieties for you to send in to fulfill other swappers wish lists, and to prevent duplicates being sent in. I do not exclude anyone from this swap, so if you are a newbie or had a bad gardening season, I can supplement your seeds with my own. I have about 1600 varieties, and am always willing to share😃 |

| Thank you . But to me 50 packs is too many. I am not growing anything near 50 varieties. And I don't want to get anything near 50 packs/varieties either. At the most what I can do is to send in 5 vars, and 2 packs of each, tatal = 10 packs. And in return I won't want more than 5 varieties JUST ONE pack of each. So I am willing to send in twice as much as I want to receive. I am a small scale BACKYARDNER. I already have 80% of what I want to grow next year. So as per your rules, I can not participate. But that is ok. I am sure there are many who can benefit from your organizing efforts. |

| Hi Seysonn! You only need 10 varieties of 50 seeds each. But if you can only send 5 varieties of 2 packs each, that is fine, and I will send you 10 packs back. I know you only wanted 5 back, but I want to be fair to you. :) Most of us are "backyard" gardeners, but we have an obsession with collecting varieties to try out. I usually have about 6 varieties that I love to grow each year, then add in about 20 more untried. Then there are usually one or two that I really liked for my growing area, and I add them to the must-grow list, and so on each year, with some dropping out along the way for better replacements. I'm only telling you this because I don't want you thinking we are big farmers swapping lol. I have about 1500 or so varieties, and I grow anywhere from 27 to 100 plants each year, depending on where I can garden (I don't have enough sun in my yard, darn trees lol.) In any case, I am thrilled to have you join us! Andrea |
