So if you plant tomatoes and have white flies around, be sure to try to keep them at bay.

I don't know where your 10b zone is b'c you didn't list it at your page.

But there are many genera and species of white flies but only Besmisia tabaci transmits TYLC virus and at least in the US it's only found mainly along the Gulf Coast from FL westward, but seldom up into CA.

Hope that helps for others who might be plagued with whiteflies of different genera and species.

My Brandywine got TYLCV last year from Whitefly. I am in Miami.

I'm in Broward County, north of Ft. Lauderdale. It's that time of the year where all the ficus hedges planted for privacy drop all their leaves (because of the white fly) and all that's left are dried up branches. My poor tomatoes...
So if the ficus whitefly doesn't carry TYLCV, then probably I have the silverleaf whitefly in addition. But who knows at this stage if they might not both carry it....

The link below is from the U Florida and indicates that the white Fly I mentioned above is the only insect vector.

If you do a general Google search you'll find varying info on the specific white flies that cause cause tomato diseases elsewhere and in a couple of links the silver leaf one is mentioned, but not for Florida.

Any herbicides used anywhere in the vicinity? By you, a garden helper, the neighbors or a landscape service?

The only person I see spraying is the lawn guy across the street. But my garden is well sheltered by a 6 foot passion fruit vine covered fence, the house and 2 side of 7-9 feet of ficus hedges. The yellow leaves did kinda spread, one plant first, then slowly going onto the others.

I suggest you send images to your county's university Extension Service office. They will likely have *the* answer for you. Send the the close-up view as well as an entire plant and one of the the overall planting bed.

(In fact, would you please post those additional images here also as they could help explain the reason for the damage?)

The extension office just confirmed that the symptoms on my plants (send email with description and pics) are the same as
TYLCV symptoms. The recommendation is to remove those plants and don't plant tomatoes in the same spot again. Treat the ficus with a systemic and spray other tomato plants with a 3 in 1.
