how to handle tomato plants end of season

Posted by prillap Virginia (My Page) on

In early October I'm still getting tomatos but its slowing down. This is my first year. What do I do with the plants when it really gets cold? Pull them out? Or are they perrenials and can stay in the earth? Very successful season so I want to expand next year.Quite the greenhorn here.

Check out the discussion just below yours called "Pull tomato plants?"

Some varieties can be raised as perennials but have to be moved inside before frost and babied through the winter. Most just go with new plants the following year.

I pull mine and burn them.
