Seeds= more than 1 seed

True, but references to a group of seeds can correctly use "seed." " I planted a bushel of wheat seed."

"Seed" is often used to indicate multiple seeds. So what is the context? And why does it matter?

Well, they called him Johnny Appleseed, but he had a lot more than one seed. ;-)
