Oh my...I had to eat them all

I'd picked several 'last of the season' tomatoes last Sat at a yard sale. I picked ripe ones, and green ones, and some that were partially ripe, but had cracks in them. Well those with cracks ripened all the way, and split worse, and were 'going bad' around the splits. They had been drawing fruitflies, so I decided to deal with them before they got any worse. I cut out the bad places, cutting generously to be sure and get it all, and ended up with a big plate of beautiful wedges that needed eaten right away.

They made for a nice lunch, but were really quite a bit more than I really wanted.

Do you ever have to 'eat them all' to keep them from going to waste? There really wasn't enough to mess with freezing.

End of the season tomatoes are, imho, very precious, knowing it will be a really long time before next years 'real' tomatoes ripen.
