First year tainer user. Great success.

I read your thread about trying to throttle water uptake.
I am not an engineer, I didnt understand most of the
contents.

Why would you throttle uptake?

Maybe take another route? I used Zeba this year with great effect. Watering was kept to a minimum.
Once a week during the 100 degree heat. Might of been
able to do more.
Zeba is like the polymer water holding crystals except it made from cornstarch. It hold the water until needed.
Careful, too much of it can be a killer. A little
goes a LONG ways. It can be bought in bulk.

Another thing: In the PNW it rains a lot early and late in the season. Next year I am putting a pluggable drain holes at the bottom of the 'tainers in coinjunction with the drain hole 3-4" up.
Not sure how to pull that off yet.
