tomato problems

Hi everyone I have tried growing tomatoes on many occasions and in a variety of ways. firstly and most of all in beds in the ground. I always however have die back from the ground up, yellowing of leaves and eventual total demise of the plant. I have been led to believe this may be nematodes in the soil. This year I decided to try cherry tomatoes in pots. All was well until just after they began to fruit and then my same old problem. I have checked all over and cannot find any pests. What am i doing wrong?
