Sterilising Seeds

I had a "Italian Paste" tomato that I bought from a plant shop, and I grew it on in a container. It suddenly wilted and died, fusarium or verticillum wilt or something I suppose. I managed to ripen a couple of fruit (it is late summer here in New Zealand)and thought that I would save the seeds for next season. However I don't want to risk spreading the disease. Is there any way to treat the seed to prevent this?

There's not enough specific info on the "disease", but when you extract the seeds, if you use the fermentation method to save the seeds, then use a clorox rinse on the end and you should not have any disease concerns next planting time.
