New foliage often does have leaves that curl or roll and they usually grow out of it as they mature b'c it's a reflection of an imbalance between root and foliage mass.

But the twisted stems you refer to would worry me a bit more.

You suggest that the stems are straightening out, and if that's the case then I would worry less.
