Holes in my cucumber & tomato plants

Hello,
I'm a beginner vegetable gardener and am trying to grow various vegetables. I recently transplanted some tomato, cucumber, & tomatillo plants out in the garden. It seems like something is eating my cucumber and tomato leaves. I did not want to use pesticides but it seems like I'm going to have to use pesticides if I want to get rid of any bugs eating my vegetable leaves. Please help me choose the safest pesticide for this problem. I have checked the leaves for bugs again & again and I see nothing. I have attached some pictures.
