young tomatoe plant problem

i just transplanted tomatoe plants started from seed to a garden outdoors. that very night and much of the next day we experienced high winds and rain. the following day was sunny and when i checked my plants i found the larger leaves wilted and covered with yellow blotches. the newest sprouts look healthy. the plants took a pretty good battering for their size and the leaves were drenched and against the dirt for a good part of the storm. could this condition be the result of too much water too soon. i didn't acclimate the plants to the outdoors before i planted them and the temp got down to about 45 degrees the following night. will my babies live ?!!?
