Brown freckled spots on leaves after 2 days of rain

I have three beefsteak tomato plants growing in a big pot on my South West facing apartment balcony. I bought the three plants from a local Walmart about four weeks ago and transferred all three to one large pot with new potting soil and they have been just fine and really growing and already some flower buds are appearing however, this last week, 2 days of heavy rain occurred (I had to dump out the excessive water from the dishes under the pots after the rains) I noticed freckled whitish brown spots on many of the leaves (See photo I took of the leave spots)These did not exist before the rains.Anybody have any idea as to what the problem is?

This is what mine look like except very small.
I wonder if its tomato spotted wilt virus. I couldn't find anything else that fit its description after several searches.
Hopefully someone will come along & let us know
Good luck

I read on a different forum (can't remember where) that often times after a lot of rain, fungal spores can settle on your plant and cause spotting similar to what I seen in your picture. I'm not positive about that, so you might want to look up fungus' on tomatoes. Good luck.

Hi,
I had the same problem and yes it will spread to the whole plant and all your tomatoes. It's a Fungus, and it will kill you plants very fast. Thanks to Sharon Love Joy's book Trowel & Error, I found a recipe for diluted milk that saved my plants. I used a 3:1 solution(3 parts water, 1 part milk). First I trimmed off all the affected leaves/branches ( this will make your tomatoes look like scarecrows, but it's the only way)-Dont compost the diseased foliage.
Then spray with diluted milk for several days. I do it in the shade but early enough that the plants have time to dry before evening coolness sets in.

My plants are saved! I cant believe it worked!

BTW I live in coastal (June Gloom) CA, in case you were wondering about the plants locale.

Hope it works for you,

Ziggy

I don't think it's fungus disease, or a virus.

Have the plants gone wilty at any point, even just a little bit?

If so, the tissue was killed but didn't recover even though the plant perked up when you watered.
