Sticky black powder on leaves of potted Tomato...

I have one potted tomato plant that I got from Walmart (of all places) 2 months ago. It took off almost instantly and became about 3 ft high and wide and very bushy. It started producing tomatoes within two weeks after planting. Now all growth has severely slowed- including the tomatoes that started 6 weeks ago. There is a sticky black mold like substance covering the bottoms of the oldest leaves- and the tops of some. I thought it could be spider mites so I tried to tap some onto a piece of paper- but nothing moved.

What could this be?

The new growth has dark purplish veins. I just bought some seaweed spray today to see if it's a potassium deficiency.

Could the two be related?
