Yellow leaves - are my plants toast ?

This is spreading very fast (a week ago there was almost no yellow leaves). Starting from the bottom and progressing towards the top of the plant.
The leaves turn yellow, some become brown at the tip. When they are completely yellow, they wilt and die. At first I thought this was due to whiteflies and aphids as there are some, but now I'm pretty sure it's a disease, and I don't know anything about how to fight diseases, if possible at all.

These are various heirloom varieties, grown in pots, I'm in central California. I started them from seed, no chemical fertilizer, I put some organic compost in the soil and water, depending on the heat, between everyday and every 2-3 days.

Can anything be done, or should I just throw them away and hurry to buy new ones ?? This is really too bad, I was starting to get tons of fruits.

Thanks for any advice -

You have large plants in smallish pots. That could be the problem.
