 o
leave problem....

Posted by odeed (My Page) on

this just started about a week or so ago.first on one of my early girls that is in the ground.then it spred to a few potted early girls and a beefsteak.i pulled of all infected leaves but still more are getting infected.

this is how is starts, then the leaves wilt up,turn brown and die.(but stay on the vine.)

i checked the t.p.s. and to me it looks like either powdery mildew or virticillium wilt.(although i thought the plants i had were resistant to v.w.)

i bought a fungacide, sprayed and the early girl that started the whole problem seems to be ok but the rest are still slowly dieing.

anyway here is a pic at the early stage.ill post a later stage pic in a few.

HELP PLEASE!

RE: leave problem....

odeed - It may not be as dire as you think. It is not unusual for the lower suckers to yellow and die while the rest of the plant thrives. I see this all the time with my Early Girls and other varieties.

However, if the yellowing is spreading from the bottom to the top, hit it with the fungicide and you may save it. I just used Daconil on several of my yellowing plants and it seems to have done the trick.
