hi all,

it's been raining heavily here in upstate ny and i noticed my tomato plants (grape and husky cherry red) showing bumps and spiky white root-looking shoots along their stems. i'm growing in containers and have been fertilizing with basic miracle-grow tomato food. there have been green tomatos on all the plants for at least three weeks but nothing's turning red and now some of the fruit looks a little pale.

i'm sorry that i don't have a camera because the plants look like aliens. what do y'all think? any ideas? is it too late? should i cut off the spikes? all suggestions welcome!
