Any chance you have a hand lens (10x)? Turn that leaf over and see if anything is rasping the underside like spidermites, whitefly, etc. Without the lens , too difficult to see.

I don't know of any diseases that would make a leaf look like that but since it's the bottom leaves only perhaps it's a tad of fertilizer burn if you do fertilize directly. Newer foliage should be fine if that's the case.

(Is it OK to spray Dacanil on the plants even before seeing signs of disease? I got one reply which I appreciated and they noted it was fine. But I would love a second opinion. Also, does anyone know how I would measure this? I lost the directions.)

If a persdon lives in an area where fungal foliage diseases have been or might be expected then a rigorous spray program with an anti-fungal should be started from the time the plants are set outside.

I don't know what specific Daconil prep you have but if it's Ortho Disease Control and the daconil concentration in the concentrate is about 29% then it's one tbs/gal of water.

No bugs can be seen on the other side of the leave, Farkee. So perhaps it is fertilizer burn.

I do usually get a blight later in the season (which I believe daconil can help (Yes, the Ortho garden control one is what I have), so I think I will go ahead and start spraying every week. Try to control the problem before it starts.
