tomato problems

I recently moved to NW Illinois (zone 5) and have planted many different variety of tomatoes throughout the years, Early Girl being my favorite, unfortunately we have 12 plants that are determinate and no names. We thought we were buying indeterminate early girls from the local Farm King but to our surprise they are not (apparently some foolish person switched all the name tags on their tomato plants; No telling what variety they are, however, they all have small brown sunken in bruising on them and when they are taken inside (some are not even ripe yet) as they ripen inside, the bruise seems to deteriorate more and sinks in. I have cut into the tomatoes and no insects or worms are visible? I have not ever had this happen before. The plants themselves look good. Any insight would be appreciated.

Photo attached - White spot on tomato is digital flash, bruise is on right side. They grew this way. Are they safe to eat?

Many thanks.
