Tomato Frustration

Posted by ApRhys Maryland (My Page) on

This is my third year gardening on any moderate scale, second year trying tomatoes. Last year had early season luck in pots on the deck. This year, expanded to the raised box in the yard. Direct sun all day. Had record-breaking heat though July, with some serious dry spells, and recently very wet hurricane season.

In July, I was educated on stink bugs when they ruined over 2 dozen tomatoes. Controlled the pests, but now this is what my crop looks like. Having a hard time figuring anything defnite out by looking at online pics, maybe someone on the forum can help me figure out what's going on and how I may help it before he season's completely over?

The small images are -- well, a tad small.

The cracked tomatoes end up that way when the soil goes dryish, then you water or it rains profusely.

Can't see what you want us to know about in the other images.

Can you try again?

RE: Tomato Frustration

Sorry, I wasn't able to upload more than one photo. I was afraid the 61k limit would make things hard to visualize. I wasn't sure if the spotting on the outside of the tomatoes were indicative of anything. I sliced a couple for my juicer this morning, and they are beautiful under the surface.

As for the plants themselves, there are large sections that are quickly wilting. No spotting/yellowing, just turning brown and dead w/in a week.
