what is this worm?

found several of these on one plant today. they are blackish in color and were pretty small,maybe a touch over a 1/4 inch. Found what looked to be the same species on a pothos a week ago and it was the size of my pinkie. it had almost eaten the entire plant. definitely not a hornworm. any ideas? the pic isnt great quality but here it is.

Can't tell from the image what you have, but I wouldn't hesitate is removing them by hand and tossing them where a bird might find them.
