Do O'Possums and Racoons eat Tomatoes?

Hello!
Just wondering if I should cage up my plants when they set fruit. We have TONS of these critters running around at night and I have never grown any vegetables before.
Thanks!!

Halime

yes they do and so do rats birds hornworms etc - I have 2 brussells griffons which handle rats and possums - no raccoon problem yet - use has also use hot wax - a pepper product you dilute and spray on your tomatoes - it was made to help with some insects but seems to deter rats and possums - good luck
