what is eating my tomato stem?? HELP!

| Hi.. i' new to this forum... but have been reading it for a long time... great source of info! Can anyone please help me identify what is eating my tomato stems??

I just can out one morning and found the stem nearly eaten all the way through... and the little buggers have started on the higher stems... please help!

| Response on the other tomato forum suggested slugs or snails. Do you have those in your area? |

hi jean,
yes, i've had snails and slugs coming to my tomatoes... it's just rained so they're out in force... i never realised that the snails and slugs crawled so high just to eat the stems... i always thought they were ground dwellers... :)
