Can a live oak become a 'topiary' in form?

Hi- I was wondering, after seeing that there is a book called "PopBonsai", I know this is frowned upon by true bonsai growers, but it seems that somehow in this growing garden of trees, is there someone who has combined the two forms with a live oak tree? Does anyone have photos of their "prize treasures" that I could maybe get an idea on how something like this could be accomplished? It seems amazing and I would like to know if anyone has done this type of "tree training". Thanks !

Live oaks will naturally develop branches that bend over and touch the ground after a century or so of growth.

They grow naturally in this part of the country a little bit further south (probably where you are if you're coastal) and some of the older specimens are breathtaking.

I don't know about training a younger tree, but they are very tough. The Friendship Oak in Long Beach, MS has survived dozens of hurricanes.

Here is a link that might be useful: Live Oaks
