Recommend a shrub to use for cone topiary?

Help, I have two very large urns on my west facing front porch that I would love to plant with cone shaped topiaries. What type plant would do best here in Alabama? I would like something dark green that resembles small trees.

hhmmm
juniperus robusta(upright juniper)has the dark green color of 'hollywood' juniper, but grows..eh...upright
it tends to be a tad top-heavy, but easily pruned
