i made a very large parrot hanging on a branch that so far is just lined with dried green moss.is there a live plant that will be able to stay alive by the moisture of the moss insead of having to be rooted in soil?i'm in zone 5,so i would probally be bringing it inside for the winter,so if you know of a nice houseplant with very small leaves, that i could use that roots really well, that would probally work too.robin

If your cage is lined with moss it can hold soil if the lining is intact. You can also use one of the light plastic pots( the throw away ones you get at the nursery) as a soil container. Place this in the middle of your frame and plant a creeping fig in the container. The sphagnum moss will provide an excellant surface for the ivy to cling to and the moss will also retain water an nutrients which the plant will use.
