Indoor topiaries- Jasmine and Lavender

Hi there, I would appreciate some advice on two plants I recently purchased. One is a small lollipop shape lavender plant- should I keep cutting all the new growth to keep the shape- obviously it will never flower, but if I let it go it will lose it's globe shape?
I also purchased a flowering jasmine that is blooming and is wrapped around a circular wire shape. The blossoms are so fragrant I don't want to cute it at all but I can't keep winding it around itself as it is getting too unwieldy- help!

RE: Indoor topiaries- Jasmine and Lavender

I wonder what type of lavender you'd purchased. I've lavenders munstead which are not suitable for topiaries, but the spanish lavenders are suitable. I suspect it might be the spanish variety. Why don't you just allow it to flower and trim it when it has stopped blooming. No need to worry about that it will go out of shape. Once you'd pruned it, it will get back to shape. Enjoy it's blooms and fragrance.

As for the jasmine vine. Nip off the tip of it leading vine. That usually stops the growth that particular 'stem' and forces side branches to grow.

Ianna
