Outdoor Topiary Plants for Wire Frames

My sister recently lost her pet pug and I've been looking for some sort of outdoor memorial for her to have. I found the ready made wire forms for pugs and am wondering how successful these are for outdoor use. I don't want to do the moss/ivy thing.

We live in zone 8 so I'm assuming boxwood would be a choice but are there any other suggestions? Should you use two plants, one for each set of feet? Anyone else have a successful outdoor use of this type of form?

Any suggestions, advise or photos of your topiary would be appreciated.

RE: Outdoor Topiary Plants for Wire Frames

I would suggest using creeping fig in your topiary. Plant the creeping fig in the ground and secure your topiary to the ground. I use wire (from coat hangers) bent in half to secure the topiary. Creeping fig grows pretty fast and clings to your form, thus, only occasional clipping is necessary.
