Training a Peony?

I was in the garden admiring the beautiful peonies that are blooming--on the ground. Yes, I staked them with "rings" but they get so tall that there are many flowers that still end up on the ground, right over the 2' high rings. Anyhow, it occurred to me that someone somewhere might have had the idea to train them to better display their flowers, without looking like they've been tied up in a tomato cage. Anyone out there?

I added extra support to my peony rings by making a 4" grid across them with coat hanger wire. (Yes, my hands hurt for a while afterward!) This kept the peonies from flopping to one side of the ring. The key is to get the ring out early enough and keep the growing foliage from getting tangled in the grid. It sounds as though your peonies are quite tall so I'm not sure it will be as helpful for you, but you might want to give it a try next year.

3 - 4 Bamboo stakes (green coloured) should be place in the ground and then tie a piece of string (I used brown string)in a round and then zig zag pattern. Do this while the plant is small so once it grows, the stake will disappear. So do this next spring.
