Spiral Ornamentals - Which conifer?

| Hello All,
I see many folks have an interest in spiral ornamental trees and several kinds of trees have been mentioned to
be used for the DIY crowd. I need to know which trees are the ones that the nurseries sell (that are made into spirals). Also, is there any slow growing conifer available that would be appropriate for this kind of a topiary. I admire the folks that tried to do it on their own.... Big Cohones.....! I think I'd rather purchase the spiral tree and concentrate on trimming it and watering. Any suggestions for the type of conifer are appreciated!
TIA
Debra

| The most common type they use are dwarf Alberta Spruce trees. |

| dwarf alberta spruce is the easiest to maintain as it only flushes out new growth twice a year. other conifers such as thuja, juniper and cypress(which are also commonly used) are in active growth throughout the growing season, so they take a little more work to keep looking neat. hope this helps |

| Be brave! Remember topiary is like getting a bad haircut....it'll grow back out. *S* Peggy |
