RE: shape Privet into a topiary??

We have four privets in lollypop shapes. They were all multi-trunked when we bought our house, but I've managed to get them down to just two - one main trunk and one offshoot about halfway up. I just trim all the growth up to the foliage area and trim about two to three times a year to keep their shape. Be aware though, the seedlings that pop up all over the yard are an ongoing issue.
