| Hi, I just found this web site and just in time!! Out son is getting married next June and we wanted to use topiary trees or someting on that line to line the wedding isle. They are having an outdoor wedding. We also wanted to make miniature ones for table centerpieces. Has anyone done this or can somebody give me some ideas? Is is possible to have them ready by next June?? What kind of ivy would I use that is quick growing?? Help please! |

| My daughter had a garden wedding and had 2 urns, 1 on each side of the pergolia(sp). The urns were planted in flowering plants. Stuck in the middle of the urns were tree trunks of crepe myrtle about 2-3 inches in diameter. Attached to the top of this trunk was a basket planted in cascading ferns and flowers. The floral designer arranged seasonal flowers in the basket also. They were breath taking and just enough without overwhelming the wedding party. I know this is not a topiary but similar. These urns were large enough for a grown person to sit in so they were quite large. They were also the only floral designs used in the wedding, no candles, mid-afternoon wedding. I have seen boxwoods in planters used to mark the isle as well which would not have to be planted now. In a Martha Stewart book they showed the boxwoods covered in tulle, that was really pretty. As for the tables, why not small baskets of potted plants, if a night wedding you could put a hurricane lamp in the center with a candle. Just food for thought. By the way, the florist had salvaged these crepe myrtles from a re-landscaping job in his neigborhood, wouldnt wnat anyone to think I would just go out and cut those beautiful trees down on purpose!!!!:):):):) |
