dwarf alberta spruce

I want to cut off the bottom to make it look more like a tree where it would show a bottom trunk. Will this work for a dwarf alberta spruce? If yes, when would be the best season to do it?

Thanks,

RE: dwarf alberta spruce

Dwarf form spruce are often used as Bonsai material. That says that the plant is ideally suitable for training and creating a well balanced design. It is recommended that spring through summer is the best time for general pruning. I personally would do branch pruning only one branch at a time and would do it only during late autumn and winter. I use sharp, clean shears or hand pruners.
