New Husqvarna GTH 2548: safety switch touchy and backfiring

Just purchased brand new Husqvarna 2548
On hills (going downhill and on angles tilted to right) the "safety switch" under the seat seems way too touchy and shuts off the engine frequently when my weight leans forward in the least or to the right.
Any suggestions on how to keep it from quitting so easily? Is there a "fix"?
Also, it backfires every time I shut it off and when it "kills" going downhill.
Helpful suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
