Can pushing an Automatic Drive Murray mess up the transmission?

Good evening
I have a 17 hp Twin 46" Murray with a Briggs & Stratton engine and an Automatic Drive that has forward and reverse on one foot pedal.
I had a tubeless turf tire go flat and I forgot to disengage the transmission and pushed the mower up a slight incline.
After getting the tire fixed, the transmission will not engage at all either going forward or in reverse.
Did I mangle the transmission?
Engine is running great and all belts are fine.
If I did mangle the transmission, anybody in upstate SC got one similar with a good transmission and a bad motor they want to sell??
