My 917.271140 Craftsman is 14 years old. Local repair guy had to use hydraulic jack to straighten the shell in order to move it away from the rear wheel. But I undid his work when I hit a tree (not very hard). I tried to use a come along to pull the deck away from the wheel, but that actually made it worse. Other than buying a new shell and rebuilding it ($700 est. cost), is there anyway to pull the deck away from the tire (rear, opposite side from steering wheel) without removing the deck? Or if I have to remove it, without straightening it?
