Pennsylvania - Texas - Pennsylvania roadtrip

| Greetings,
My husband and I are driving to Texas from Pennsylvania and back. We are doing a loop and setting out on March 5th. This is probably a little early for optimal public garden viewing or hiking natural areas in search of wildflowers, but if anyone's got suggestions I'd be grateful. Our itinerary involves non-stop to Louisiana (stayover in Lafayette); four or five days in the Houston and Galveston areas; return via non-stop to Arkansas (stayover in Hot Springs); and then three days in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina (staying in Maggie Valley). Any suggestions about places to visit along the way (especially within proximity to our stayover destinations)? We are also birding enthusiasts, as many of you may also be. So ditto birding opportunities. Thanks so much!

| If you are going through the Columbus Ohio area Inniswood Gardens might have some wildflowers by then. There is a really great park in Dayton, Ohio. I forget the name but if you are going that way email me and I will find it. If you are at all close to Newark, Ohio Dawswood arboretum is worth a trip. There is a great horned owl nesting across from Sharon Wood's Metro park in Columbus. If you are going through Ohio let me know your route and I might have other suggestions. |
