I am just laundering my palm tree shirt from the Fairchild Tropical Gardens. We were there over Christmas this year and I had such a great time, I joined them (I live in MA!). I have been interested in palm trees since a vacation in San Diego three years ago, and the collection at Fairchild was a treat! I try to see gardens whereever I go. This one was great because it has a reciprocal agreement with both the MassHort and with the Arnold Arboretum so I got two free tickets!
Anybody been there recently?

Hi Gardenmart, haven't been there recently, but once belonged several years ago (before Andrew). Am just curious if the Garden has reached the maturity it once had before the hurricane knocked so many plants over?

The Garden seemed to have lots of mature specimens and had a finished look. I can't say as to the difference since this was my first visit, but there were many species and everything looked in good order. An amazing variety.

For an another side to the collection go see Fairchild's private home "The Kampon" addmission is difficult but the view from the bay and of manatees is worth it!
